About the artist: While Ned Chase was a student at the Arts Student League in NYC in the early 20th Century, he was a member of the 'Society of American Fakirs,' a group of young artists who used their skills to parody the work of great artists. Other members of the group were Georgia O'Keeffe, Man Ray, and Yasuo Kuniyoshi. Chase went on to become an early member of the Byrdcliffe Artist Colony in Woodstock. Chase is the paternal grandfather of actor Chevy Chase!
